PRODUCER MALGORZATA SZUMOWSKA

She is a graduate of the Lodz Film School. She also studied History of Art at Jagiellonian University for two years. Her short film " Silence" received 18 international awards and is listed among the 15 best Lodz schools short films of all times. "Ascension" - a short feature film, was presented in the 2000 Cannes Cinefoundation section.

She is also the author of several documentaries, often awarded at international festivals. While working on the documentaries she gaind her first experiences in production, as she was the producer of all her documentaries.

At the age of 25 she made her first feature film "A Happy Man". It received a prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival and was shown at several film festivals in Europe and America, including Toronto, Karlovy Vary, San Francisco, London among others. She was chosen by "Variety" as one of the 10 best films by young European directors, and "Time" described Szumowska as a "person to watch". The film was also nominated for the Discovery Award at the European Film Awards.
In 2001 she was nominated for the NHK (Sundance Filmmakers Award) and became a member of the European Film Academy.
