Zentropa International Poland was created in September 2008 by Małgorzata Szumowska and Peter Albeck.
Its first film is Lars von Trier's "Antichrist", which was partly financed by the Polish Film Institute. The Polish company Platige Image produced some of the special effects for the movie.
The second film produced by the company is 'A Woman who Dreamt about a Man' by Per Fly. A big part of the film was shot in Warsaw and the main male character was performed by a Polish actor – Marcin Dorociński. That film also received financial support from the Polish Film Institute.
The third international production of Zentropa Poland will be 'Sponsoring' by Małgorzata Szumowska. It will be co–produced by the French Slot Machine and her owner Marianne Slot and the Danish Zentropa.
Our main objective has been to open the Polish film industry to International co-productions, to enable an efficient collaboration of Polish and European filmmakers. At the same time we aim at producing ambitious Polish movies, especially by young directors, giving them an opportunity to enter the European market with the help of Zentropa.
Zentropa Poland are: Malgorzta Szumowska, director and producer, as the art director of the company, and Agnieszka Kurzydło – its administrative and financial head.
We work with many interesting artists in Poland. Writers, editors and others and we attempt to establish a creative environment around Zentropa Poland, which will be able produce new and innovative works dealing with our Polish reality, be it a documentary, a series of a feature film.
